Andrés Laserna
Andrés Laserna is Instructure’s Regional Director for Latin America.
Andrés has worked in various roles in the education industry for more than 11 years, with a focus on online education, and has helped more than 20 universities in Latin America to build their online education strategy.
He has a passion for exploring solutions that can contribute to the democratisation of education as a fundamental means of improving people’s quality of life, not only in his country but also worldwide.
Andrew Main Wilson
Andrew is Chief Executive of AMBA & BGA. AMBA accredits 291 Business Schools in 75 countries and provides membership to 60,000 MBA students and graduates in 150 countries.
BGA, launched in January 2019, is the organisation’s most significant launch in more than 50 years and 198 Business Schools have joined BGA in just over three years.
BGA champions practical, entrepreneurial, and socially responsible management education, offering Membership, Validation and Accreditation to Business Schools that can demonstrate impact and commitment to BGA’s vision. Like AMBA, students and graduates of BGA Schools are eligible for free BGA Membership.
Andrew was Chairman of United Nations PRME (Principles for Responsible Management Education) for three years, from 2016 to 2018. He commenced his career with Thomson Holidays (now TUI), then the world’s largest travel tour operator.
He became Marketing and Commercial Director of Thomas Cook and then Sales and Marketing Director of Citibank Diners Club. He subsequently joined the Institute of Directors (IoD) as Chief Operating Officer.
He has interviewed more than 100 of the world’s most influential leaders in the fields of business, politics, sport, and entertainment, including Bill Gates, Baroness Thatcher, HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Jack Welch, Sir Richard Branson, and Sir David Attenborough. Andrew has also visited 178 of the world’s 200 countries, on a global journey to become the first person to visit all 200 countries and tell the story, in images and words, of the most inspiring travel experiences on Earth.
He was educated at Dulwich College and the University of Birmingham in the UK and Harvard Business School in the US.
Bodo Schlegelmilch
Bodo B Schlegelmilch heads the Institute for International Marketing Management at WU Vienna University of Economics and Business, Austria, and is Chair of AMBA & BGA. For more than 10 years, he was Founding Dean of the WU Executive Academy.
Starting at Deutsche Bank and Procter & Gamble, he continued his career at the University of Edinburgh, the University of California, Berkeley, the University of Wales, and Thunderbird School of Global Management.
Bodo holds a PhD in international marketing and a DLitt in corporate social responsibility from the University of Manchester as well as an honorary PhD from Thammasat University.
Carlos Mario Betancur Hurtado
Carlos Mario Betancur Hurtado is an Associate Dean at the School of Management, Universidad EAFIT in Medellín, Colombia.
Carlos holds a doctorate in economics and administrative sciences, an MBA, and a master’s in organisational human development.
Colette Doyle
Colette Doyle is Head of Editorial at AMBA & BGA.
Starting out in the 1990s covering the pharmaceutical industry, Colette moved into business travel around 20 years ago, when she joined UK publishing house, Haymarket. She helmed Business Traveller Middle East, the regional edition of the renowned London franchise, and later headed up the travel retail channel’s longest-established title, Frontier.
Most recently, she was the Editor of the Market Research Society’s membership magazine, Impact, which focuses on business intelligence designed to deliver better customer understanding, as well as commercial advantage.
Cristina Vélez Valencia
Cristina Vélez Valencia is Dean of the School of Business and Management at EAFIT University in Medellín, Colombia.
Between 2016 and 2019, she served as Secretary of the Mayoralty of Bogotá, first as Secretary of Women’s Affairs and then as Secretary of Social Integration, where she led the city’s response to the Venezuelan migration crisis. She was appointed Vice-President of the Chamber of Commerce of Bogotá between 2019 and 2021.
Cristina has an MSc in history and a PhD in management from Universidad de los Andes, and is a Maurice Greenberg World Fellow of Yale University.
David Schnarch
David Schnarch is Academic Director of MBA Programmes and Professor in Organisational Design and Change at Universidad de los Andes School of Management in Bogotá, Colombia.
David has led the transformation of the MBA portfolio at Universidad de los Andes, including the creation of a fully online programme. He also works as consultant and researcher in organisational design and change management.
He holds a master’s in economic sociology from the London School of Economics and a bachelor’s in management from Universidad de los Andes.
Enrique Bolaños
Enrique Bolaños is President of INCAE Business School, which has campuses in Nicaragua and Costa Rica.
At INCAE, Enrique has led initiatives with the institute’s impact centres, focusing on social progress, entrepreneurship, and inclusive leadership. Since 2020, he has presided over the launch of the INCAE Online Programs, Master in Analytics, Innovation and Technology, Master in Agribusiness, and its first Online MBA.
He has also strengthened relationships with Business Schools in the US, including Yale and Babson College.
Enrique holds a degree in industrial engineering from the University of Michigan and an MBA from INCAE Business School.
Enrique Ramírez
Enrique Ramírez is Dean of the School of Business and Economic Sciences at Universidad Icesi in Cali, Colombia.
Enrique has extensive experience in managing educational programmes, teaching and leading cross-cultural academic activities in different countries. He has also been a Visiting Professor in universities that include Tulane University, ESAN, KEDGE Business School and Universidad de Chile. His areas of teaching are global strategy, international business and innovation.
Enrique is an economist and holds a master’s in international business and a PhD in management from Tulane University.
Ernesto Barrera
Ernesto Barrera Duque is Academic Dean and Professor in the Marketing and Operations Management Department at INALDE Business School, Universidad de La Sabana in Bogotá, Colombia.
Ernesto has been a Visiting Professor in several Business Schools, including IPADE (Mexico) HEC Montréal (Canada) IDE Business School (Ecuador) and Barna Management School (Dominican Republic). He is also a Senior Consultant at Emergap, where he works across a number of different sectors.
His research focuses on innovation, creativity, marketing, RSE, sustainability, family business, and digital transformation. He holds a PhD in management from EAFIT University.
Francisco Gómez
Francisco Gómez is Programme Director of the Santo Domingo Foundation, where he leads the implementation of strategies in education, health and environment.
Previously, Francisco was Deputy Director of Scientific Services and Special Projects at the Alexander von Humboldt Biological Resources Research Institute. Before that, he acted as Director of Sectoral and Urban Environmental Affairs at Colombia’s Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development.
Francisco is a mechanical engineer with an MSc in sustainable energy systems and more than 10 years’ experience of managing projects that integrate engineering and the environment.
Horacio Arredondo
Horacio Arredondo is the Dean of EGADE Business School at Tecnológico de Monterrey, Mexico.
Previously, Horacio was Vice Dean of Postgraduate Studies and Executive Development at the Business School of Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez (UAI Business School) in Santiago de Chile. He has also served as the Executive Director of Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez Family Business Center and Professor in the Area of Strategy and General Management at UAI Business School.
Horacio is also a business advisor and board member, with experience in various industries and countries in Latin America, in the private sector, public sector and NGOs.
Ignacio Osuna
Ignacio Osuna is Associate Dean for the Executive MBA and Professor in the Marketing and Operations Management Department at INALDE Business School (INALDE), Universidad de La Sabana in Bogotá, Colombia.
Ignacio teaches in the Executive MBA and executive education at INALDE, as well as at other Business Schools, including IESE (USA) PAD (Peru) IDE (Ecuador) Barna (Dominic Republic) and ESE (Chile). He combines his academic responsibilities with consultancy across Latin America.
Ignacio’s research focuses on customer’s centricity and customer profitable management, and he holds a PhD in management (marketing) from IESE Business School.
John Quelch
John Quelch is Leonard M Miller University Professor, Vice Provost, and Dean of the Herbert Business School at the University of Miami (Miami Herbert). He joined Miami Herbert in 2017 after 30 years on the faculty of Harvard Business School.
John is a former Dean of London Business School and the China Europe International Business School (CEIBS). He has also served as Senior Associate Dean of Harvard Business School and Chairman of the Massachusetts Port Authority.
John is a graduate of Oxford University (BA) the Wharton School (MBA) and Harvard University (MSc and DBA).
Josep Franch
Josep Franch is the Dean of ESADE Business School (ESADE), where he is also an Associate Professor in Marketing.
At ESADE, Josep leads a faculty body of 132 permanent faculty members. He is a board member at AMBA & BGA and represents ESADE Business School in all other relevant international networks of higher management education.
Josep’s main area of specialisation as a faculty member is brand management in multinational and global companies. He is also an expert in the case study method, publishing more than 50 case studies in the fields of marketing and international business.
Juan Esteban Escalante Gomez
Juan Esteban Escalante Gómez is Director of the MBA at Universidad EAFIT in Medellín, Colombia.
At EAFIT, Juan has received a university award for excellence in teaching (2018) and has been recognised as the best undergraduate professor on its business administration programme (2014–2018). He has also co-authored several national and international papers on topics related to experiential learning, supply chain management, and financial information for decision-making.
Juan holds a PhD in strategic business administration from Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, as well as an MBA and an MS in project management from Universidad EAFIT.
Leila Guerra
Leila Guerra is Vice Dean (Education) at Imperial College Business School (Imperial), where she directs and oversees the School’s portfolio of post- and undergraduate programmes, including marketing, recruitment and admissions, programmes, the award-winning EdTech Lab, and careers and student life services for more than 3,000 students.
Leila’s primary focus is on driving an outstanding student experience, developing innovative teaching methodologies in a hybrid world and enabling long-term success for graduates.
Prior to joining Imperial, Leila was Assistant Dean at Lee Kong Chian School of Business in Singapore, and Executive Director at London Business School.
Liliana López Jiménez
Liliana López Jiménez is Dean of the School of Management at Universidad Externado de Colombia, where she is also a Professor of Finance and International Relations.
Liliana has more than eight years of work experience as a consultant and project manager in the implementation of information systems for public and private sector entities.
She holds an MSc in the analysis, design and management of information systems from the London School of Economics and a PhD in business administration from Ivey Business School, Western University, Canada.
Lina Constanza Stella Leal
Lina Constanza Stella Leal is Director of MBA and Executive MBA programmes at Universidad de los Andes School of Management in Bogotá, Colombia.
Previously, Lina has served as Director for the undergraduate programme in management and Director of the master’s in finance and master’s in marketing programmes at Universidad de los Andes School of Management.
Lina holds an MBA with a specialisation in marketing from Universidad de los Andes and a bachelor´s in industrial engineering from Universidad Industrial de Santander in Bucaramanga, Colombia.
Lina Martínez
Lina Martínez is Associate Professor of Public Policy and Director of the Observatory of Public Policies (POLIS) at Universidad Icesi in Cali, Colombia.
Lina has worked at the World Bank and the Inter-American Development Bank, served as a consultant for the national government in Colombia on the design of a national health and wellbeing policy, and directed an extensive measurement system in Cali to monitor and track life satisfaction, happiness, and mental health.
Lina holds a bachelor’s in philosophy, a master’s in education and human development, and a master’s and PhD in public policy.
Maria Clemencia Sierra
Maria Clemencia Sierra is Dean of the Business School at Universidad del Norte.
Maria has 25 years of experience in the financial sector. Previously, she was CFO of a private equity fund and of Financiera de Desarrollo Nacional, Colombia´s infrastructure development bank. She has also worked at the World Bank, the International Finance Corporation (IFC), Citi and Colombia’s Ministry of Finance.
Maria has a master’s in public administration from Harvard Kennedy School of Government; and a bachelor’s in finance and international relations from Universidad Externado de Colombia.
Mario Giraldo
Mario Giraldo is a Professor of Marketing and International Business at Universidad del Norte in Barranquilla, Colombia.
Mario is a lecturer, consultant and researcher in service logic, service and marketing management, transformative service research, and consumption practices, with 20 years of experience.
Mario holds a PhD in management from the University of Surrey; a postgraduate diploma in economic and consumption psychology from Universidad del Norte; a master’s in marketing from EGADE Business School; and a bachelor’s in business administration from Universidad Externado de Colombia.
Peter Yamakawa
Professor Peter Yamakawa is Dean of ESAN Graduate School of Business (ESAN GSB), ESAN University, Peru.
He has a PhD and a MSc in telecommunication engineering from Osaka University, Japan, and a MBA from ESAN GSB.
He also holds the project management professional (PMP), program management professional (PgMP), and risk management professional (RMP) from PMI and has held several managerial positions at international telecom operators, based in Peru.
Peter was Director of Research, Consultancy Services/Development at ESAN GSB, and was Vice-president for Research at ESAN University. He has also worked as a Programme Director for AACSB, has served on AMBA accreditation panels and is a member of the AMBA & BGA Latin America Advisory Council.
Steef van de Velde
Steef van de Velde is a former Dean of Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM) Netherlands, where he remains a Professor of Operations Management and Technology. He is a board member at AMBA & BGA.
Steef holds an MSc in econometrics from the Erasmus School of Economics and a PhD in mathematics and computer science from Eindhoven University of Technology.
Veneta Andonova
Veneta Andonova is Associate Professor of Business Strategy and the Dean of Universidad de los Andes School of Management in Bogotá, Colombia.
Veneta is an accomplished educator, entrepreneurial mentor and researcher. Her scientific contributions have been published in high-ranked international journals in economics and management and she is co-author of two successful books: Multilatinas: Strategies for Internationalisation (2017) and Entrepreneurial Ecosystems in Unexpected Places (2019).
She obtained her doctoral degree in management from Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) Spain, and has taught at some of the top Business Schools in Latin America.
Virginia Lasio
Virginia Lasio is a former Dean and Professor of Organisational Behaviour at ESPAE Graduate School of Management, Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral (ESPOL) in Guayaquil, Ecuador.
Virginia Led the ESPOL-Flemish Cooperation VLIR Entrepreneurs Development Programme, under which the first ESPOL Entrepreneurship Center, now I3Lab, and the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) for Ecuador was created. She is currently a member of the AMBA & BGA Latin America Advisory Council.
Virginia holds a PhD from Tulane University, as well as an MBA and a degree in mechanical engineering from ESPOL.
Victor Hedenberg
Victor joined AMBA & BGA in 2016 and has since focused on the AMBA Development Network (ADN), a platform for institutions seeking AMBA accreditation support. In addition, he has overseen the development of the current BGA service and accreditation offering, along with the AMBA & BGA accreditation team.
He is responsible for growing the BGA network, improving its membership and accreditation services and managing BGA-related projects.
Victor is a Swedish national educated at Hillsdale College in the US. He holds a degree in economics and business administration.
