ITESO University Business School, Department of Economics, Administration and Marketing receives AMBA-accreditation

ITESO University Business School, Department of Economics, Administration and Marketing (DEAM) has officially received accreditation from the Association of MBAs (AMBA), one of the world’s leading authorities on post-graduate business education, demonstrating its continuing commitment to excellence in management education.

Upon receiving AMBA accreditation, all current MBA students and recent MBA alumni of DEAM are invited to join AMBA’s global member community of more than 60,000 students and alumni in more than 150 countries on a free basis, for networking, thought leadership, career development, and a variety of benefits.

Accreditation from the Association of MBAs (AMBA) represents the highest standard of achievement in post-graduate business education. Its rigorous assessment criteria ensure that only the highest-calibre programmes which demonstrate the best standards in teaching, curriculum, and student interaction achieve Association of MBAs accreditation.

DEAM is located in Guadalajara in Mexico, and one of the largest departments of ITESO – Universidad Jesuita de Guadalajara. DEAM, together with the University Business Centre (CUE) and the Centre for Innovation and Technology Management (CEGINT), constitute Escuela de Negocios ITESO (ITESO Business School).

The vision of ITESO Business School is to be the node of training, linkage, and research that, from the Ignatian style, develops collaborative processes and co-creation to transform reality in the field of business.

Members of AMBA’s accreditation panel received very positive feedback from the faculty, alumni, students and corporate stakeholders about the school. The feedback showed the school to have a caring, collaborative and gentle culture, supported by a strong team spirit.

The panel also commended the  Business Cases Unit. This unit was seen to foster collaboration between the businesses, alumni, and faculty in the design and writing of business cases. Within these, the panel thought that the local context was thoroughly considered and that this enriched the learning processes of undergraduate and graduate students.

Finally, the panel mentioned that the institution was purpose driven.

Claudia Ibarra Baidón, Dean of the Department of Economics, Administration and Marketing (DEAM), said, “Achieving AMBA accreditation has been part of our strategy in academic excellence and internationalization, providing a global reference that energizes our MBA program and catalyses its vanguard. At a time when Jesuit universities are collaborating globally to construct and implement a new paradigm of business education, joining the recognized international network that AMBA represents strengthens us.”

AMBA accreditation is international in scope and reach, and AMBA works under the belief that accredited programmes should be of the highest standard and reflect changing trends and innovation in post-graduate management education. Its accreditation process reflects this commitment to fostering innovation, and demanding business schools to perform at the highest level continually.

Andrew Main Wilson, Chief Executive of the Association of MBAs and Business Graduates Association (BGA) said: ‘I would like to congratulate everyone at DEAM who worked towards this accreditation. I am delighted that DEAM will be joining our network of the top 2% of business schools globally and look forward to working with the institution closely.”
