NHH Norwegian School of Economics receives AMBA-accreditation confirming itself in the top 2% of Business Schools globally

NHH Norwegian School of Economics has officially received accreditation from the Association of MBAs (AMBA), one of the world’s leading authorities on post-graduate business education, demonstrating its continuing commitment to excellence in management education.  .

Accreditation from AMBA represents the highest standard of achievement in post-graduate business education. Its rigorous assessment criteria ensure that only the highest-calibre programmes which demonstrate the best standards in teaching, curriculum, and student interaction achieve AMBA accreditation.

Upon receiving AMBA accreditation, all current MBA students and alumni of  NHH Norwegian School of Economics are invited to join AMBA’s global member community of more than 50,000 students and alumni in more than 150 countries on a free basis, for networking, thought leadership, career development, and a variety of benefits.

The NHH Norwegian School of Economics was established in 1936 as Norway’s first Business School and is based in Bergen. AMBA accredits the MBAs in Strategic Management, Management Control and Seafood Management at the School, as well as a Technology and Innovation of Finance EMBA.

Members of AMBA’s accreditation panel, representing senior management at AMBA-accredited Business Schools globally, commended the School’s strong brand. This was seen to benefit the School’s position among leading European Business Schools and was also said to benefit the MBA portfolio.

The panel also commented on the agility and responsiveness of the School to market needs and trends, the creation of the Seafood Management MBA and the Technology and Innovation of Finance EMBA were seen as notable examples of this market awareness. The panel noted that the programme directors at the School had close and continuous engagement in their courses, leading programmes to be student centric.

The School’s strong research profile in business and economics was also commended by the panel.

‘NHHs ambition about being a recognized international Business School leads us to put weight on international accreditations. Working with accreditations contributes to increased quality in the development and operation of our activities, and it contributes to our ability to attract excellent international student and employees,’ said Rector Øystein Thøgersen, NHH Norwegian School of Economics.

The accreditation is international in scope and reach, and AMBA works under the belief that accredited programmes should be of the highest standard and reflect changing trends and innovation in post-graduate management education. Its accreditation process reflects this commitment to fostering innovation, and demanding Business Schools to perform at the highest level continually.

Andrew Main Wilson, Chief Executive of the Association of MBAs and Business Graduates Association (BGA), said: ‘NHH Norwegian School of Economics is a very prestigious Business School and is globally recognised for its quality.
