The School of Economics and Management of Dalian University of Technology achieves AMBA accreditation, confirming itself as a world leading management education institution

The School of Economics and Management of Dalian University of Technology officially received accreditation from the Association of MBAs (AMBA), one of the world’s leading authorities on post-graduate business education, demonstrating its continuing commitment to excellence in management education.

Upon receiving AMBA accreditation, all current MBA students and recent MBA alumni of The School of Economics and Management of Dalian University of Technology are invited to join AMBA’s global member community of more than 56,000 students and alumni in more than 150 countries on a free basis, for networking, thought leadership, career development, and a variety of benefits.

Accreditation from the Association of MBAs (AMBA) represents the highest standard of achievement in post-graduate business education. Its rigorous assessment criteria ensure that only the highest-calibre programmes which demonstrate the best standards in teaching, curriculum, and student interaction achieve Association of MBAs accreditation.

The School of Economics and Management of Dalian University of Technology is located in Dalian, in the Liaoning province of northeast China. AMBA accredits the full-time MBA, the international MBA, the part-time MBA and the EMBA at the School.

Members of AMBA’s accreditation panel, representing senior management at AMBA-accredited Business Schools globally, commended the cross-disciplinary nature of the courses at the School, and the offering of courses focused on AI and Blockchain. Alongside this, the panel also commented on the introduction of new tracks in the MBA, stating the entrepreneurship track as an example.

The panel also noted the leadership of the School as having strong support from its university and a scheme for autonomy.

The Case Centre at the School was said to have considerable impact on Chinese education and business, as well as having international significance.

Dean of the School of Economics and Management, Prof. Fangwei ZHU, said, ‘It is our responsibility to create new knowledge of management based on practice. We welcome managers from the field of practice to join us, and we also encourage researchers of economics and management to further practice and jointly compose management theories with Chinese characteristics.

About The School of Economics and Management of Dalian University of Technology

The School of Economics and Management (SEM), Dalian University of Technology originated from the National Centre for Industrial Science and Technology Management Development (at Dalian) and the Department of Management Engineering founded in 1980. In 1984, the National Centre for Industrial Science and Technology Management Development (at Dalian) and University at Buffalo, the State University of New York took the lead in introducing MBA degree education in China, setting a precedent for MBA education in China. In 1985, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, Dalian University of Technology established School of Management, which became one of the earliest management Schools in China.

Besides, SEM has accredited by Chinese Advanced Management Education Accreditation (CAMEA) and European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS) respectively in June 2016 and in March 2018, and re-accredited by AACSB and EQUIS in 2021. SEM became the eighth Business School in China’s mainland to simultaneously obtain three top international and domestic accreditations.
