Event highlights

On the 2 May 2023, AMBA & BGA will be hosting its very first Central Asia Forum where business schools who are directly located in the region will be welcome to attend free of charge. The Central Asia Forum is a unique opportunity for senior staff members of business schools to learn about international best practices and developments that can offer a unique insight into how they can further improve and build internationally reputable business schools.

Alongside this, AMBA & BGA will share how BGA’s Continuous Impact Model (CIM) and accreditation can be leveraged to improve a school’s value proposition to its stakeholders. The one-day event will also invite speakers from business schools in the region and beyond, as well as officials from educational ministries to share their thoughts on the future of the management education industry.

Andrew Main Wilson

Andrew is Chief Executive of AMBA & BGA. AMBA accredits 291 Business Schools in 75 countries and provides membership to 60,000 MBA students and graduates in 150 countries.  

Andrew was Chairman of United Nations PRME (Principles for Responsible Management Education) for three years, from 2016 to 2018. He commenced his career with Thomson Holidays (now TUI), then the world’s largest travel tour operator.  

He became Marketing and Commercial Director of Thomas Cook and then Sales and Marketing Director of Citibank Diners Club. He subsequently joined the Institute of Directors (IoD) as Chief Operating Officer.  

He has interviewed more than 100 of the world’s most influential leaders in the fields of business, politics, sport, and entertainment, including Bill Gates, Baroness Thatcher, HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Jack Welch, Sir Richard Branson, and Sir David Attenborough. Andrew has also visited 178 of the world’s 200 countries, on a global journey to become the first person to visit all 200 countries and tell the story, in images and words, of the most inspiring travel experiences on Earth.

Gulnara Kurenkeyeva

Gulnara Kurenkeyeva, Dean of Almaty Management University

Kurenkeyeva  G. began her career at the university (formerly IAB) in 2006 as the director of the department “Doctor of Business Administration”, since 2014 she has been the Dean of Graduate School of Business, since 2020 – the First Vice-Rector, since September 2021 – the Rector of Almaty Management University.

Over the years of her work at the university, Gulnara has made a huge contribution to the formation and development of Graduate School of Business. During this period, the number of programs in the portfolio of educational products of the MBA department was increased, the State standard “Requirements for the minimum and content of MBA and DBA programs” was developed and implemented, state licenses for these specialties were obtained, double degree programs were developed with business schools of the USA, Europe, Asia and Russia.

For the first time in the history of MBA (Master of Business Administration) programs of a Kazakhstani university, in June 2013,  the university received one of the most prestigious international accreditations – the international accreditation of AMBA (Association of MBA’s, UK, London) and entered the list of two hundred best MBA programs of business schools in the world.

Natalie
Wilmot

Deputy Head of School

Natalie is the Deputy Dean of the School of Management at the University of Bradford, which she joined in September 2019 as MBA Director. This followed seven years at Sheffield Hallam University.  

Her research focuses on language diversity in international business, and she has published a number of works on this topic, with a research monograph on language management published by Multilingual Matters in August 2022. She plays an active role in the administration of Groupe d’Etudes Management et Langage, a scholarly body focused on management and language.   

Her teaching interests are in the areas of international strategy and cross-cultural management. Since 2017 she has been a visiting lecturer at the University of Bordeaux, where she teaches a postgraduate course on intercultural communication. Prior to academia, Natalie held various positions in the private sector, specialising in export sales and has worked extensively with organisations in southern Europe and Latin America.

Victor Hedenberg

Victor is the membership director at AMBA & BGA, responsible for the growth of the business school and student & graduate networks, as well as the services and benefits business school receive upon joining. Having joined AMBA & BGA in 2016, Victor has been involved in numerous successful projects including the AMBA Development Network (ADN), the launch of the Business Graduates Association and its membership and accreditation offering, and the enhancement of the student and graduate membership services offered to AMBA & BGA’s 65,000+ members. He has a strong passion for entrepreneurial management education that emphasises out-of-the-box thinking and responsible management principles.

Victor is a Swedish national educated at Hillsdale College in the US. He holds a degree in economics and business administration.
