Mentoring or sponsoring others is a privilege, but they both come with their own set of challenges. This learning path explains the differences between the two roles and offers advice on the practicalities of the arrangements as well as tips on how to ensure you not only become the best mentor you can be, but also how you can benefit from the relationship

Mentoring is all about helping someone else develop professionally, but the benefits of that relationship aren’t restricted to the mentee. This course explores the benefits mentoring may hold for you, the mentor.

Based on a mutually-beneficial partnership, mentoring supports the development of individuals as they attempt to improve their performance, fulfil aspirations and make a lasting change. In this module, we’ll look at the basic principles of mentoring, exploring the roles of both mentor and mentee, and consider the benefits the process can offer.

Being asked to take on the role of a mentor is a huge challenge, as it is complex and one you need to prepare for if you want to make the most of the experience. The course offers top tips on how to become a great mentor.
