Birmingham Business School confirms itself in the top 2% of business schools globally with AMBA re-accreditation

Birmingham Business School has officially received re-accreditation from the Association of MBAs (AMBA), one of the world’s leading authorities in post-graduate business education, demonstrating its continuing commitment to excellence in management education. This accreditation not only reflects the highest standards in teaching, curriculum, and student engagement but also places Birmingham Business School among the elite institutions in the world.

Upon receiving AMBA accreditation, all current MBA and MBM students and recent MBA and MBM alumni of Birmingham Business School are invited to join AMBA’s global member community of more than 60,000 students and alumni in more than 150 countries on a free basis, for networking, thought leadership, career development, and a variety of benefits.

Accreditation from the Association of MBAs represents the highest standard of achievement in post-graduate business education. Its rigorous assessment criteria ensure that only the highest-calibre programmes which demonstrate the best standards in teaching, curriculum, and student interaction achieve Association of MBAs accreditation.

The University of Birmingham is a public research university located in Birmingham, UK. The university has been teaching commercial subjects since the Faculty of Commerce (from which the business school descends) admitted its first students in 1902. This gives the school the grounds to claim it is the oldest business school in the UK.

During the accreditation process conducted by AMBA, members of the accreditation panel, representing senior management from globally accredited business schools, commended the MBA Symposium as a cross-programme and cross-cohort integrative module. The three days of international guest speakers, skills development workshops, networking and social events was considered a highlight for the attending MBA students.

The panel also noted the quality of the student experience, which was confirmed to them by the students and alumni that they met during their visit.

Also impressive for the panel was the quality and rigour of the processes at the school.

Finally, the judges gave special mention to Gatsby: the hearing aid dog on campus. They saw Gatsby as a demonstration of the caring and inclusive environment at the school.

Professor Edgar Meyer, Dean of Birmingham Business School, agreed stating: “We are immensely proud to have been awarded re-accreditation by the AMBA, reaffirming our position as one of the top 2% of business schools globally and a testament to our commitment to excellence. AMBA’s rigorous standards and its international outlook align effortlessly with our mission to deliver high-calibre, responsible post-graduate business education.

“We are honoured to be part of AMBA’s global network, which will provide our current and past students with opportunities for networking, accessing thought leadership, and develop their careers. This achievement would not have been possible without the dedication and hard work of our students, faculty, and staff.”

Dr Cristina Sandbrook, Director of Executive MBA said:“An accreditation from the AMBA holds an international reputation as a marker for excellence in post-graduate business education. For the school, this prestigious endorsement highlights our dedication to upholding the highest of standards and embracing evolving trends and innovations in management education. We are honoured to stand among the world’s leading institutions and will continue to empower future business leaders with the knowledge and skills they need to excel in today’s dynamic global landscape. My personal thanks to everyone involved in the accreditation – we really do feel and act as a big, successful family, all the staff, students, alumni and industry partners.”

AMBA accreditation is international in scope and reach, and AMBA works under the belief that accredited programmes should be of the highest standard and consider changing trends and innovation in post-graduate management education. Its accreditation process reflects this commitment to fostering innovation, and demanding business schools to perform at the highest level continually.

Andrew Main Wilson, Chief Executive of the Association of MBAs and Business Graduates Association (BGA) said: “Congratulations to Birmingham Business School for this re-accreditation. The panel were impressed by the quality of education and care of students the school provides. I look forward to working with this school in the future.”
