Nazarbayev University’s Graduate School of Business has received AMBA accreditation – confirming it as world-class

Nazarbayev University’s Graduate School of Business has officially received accreditation from the Association of MBAs (AMBA), one of the world’s leading authorities on post-graduate business education, demonstrating its continuing commitment to excellence in management education.

Upon receiving AMBA accreditation, all current MBA students and recent MBA alumni of Nazarbayev University’s Graduate School of Business are invited to join in AMBA’s global member community of more than 60,000 students and alumni in more than 150 countries on a free basis, for networking, thought leadership, career development, and a variety of benefits.

Accreditation from the Association of MBAs (AMBA) represents the highest standard of achievement in post-graduate business education. Its rigorous assessment criteria ensure that only the highest-calibre programmes which demonstrate the best standards in teaching, curriculum, and student interaction achieve AMBA accreditation.

Nazarbayev University is a publicly-funded research university based in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan. The University was founded in 2010 and operates under a special law that puts it outside the jurisdiction of the Education Ministry of Kazakhstan, making it the only “independent” university of this type in the country. The language of instruction across the entire University is English.

Members of AMBA’s accreditation panel commended the school for the support by the University leadership, which was evident from the quality of the facilities and the space available to the school.

The panel also mentioned the quality of the current students and alumni and the professional achievements of the alumni, many of whom hold high positions in Kazakh industry and government.

Finally, the panel mentioned the outstanding research output of the faculty, especially for such a young institution.

The Dean of the Graduate School of Business, Dr. Joep Konings says, “I would like to express my gratitude to the International Accreditation Advisory Board (IAAB) of AMBA & BGA for their endorsement and unwavering support. Their support serves as a significant source of motivation to persist in our mission of delivering high quality business education and nurturing the leaders of tomorrow. These leaders play a pivotal role in transforming both our society and the business landscape within this rapidly growing region, brimming with numerous new opportunities. With this accreditation, our commitment to creating a profound societal impact through top-tier business education and research has grown stronger than ever.”

AMBA accreditation is international in scope and reach, and AMBA works under the belief that accredited programmes should be of the highest standard and reflect changing trends and innovation in post-graduate management education. Its accreditation process reflects this commitment to fostering innovation, and demanding business schools perform at the highest level continually.

Andrew Main Wilson, Chief Executive of the Association of MBAs and Business Graduates Association (BGA) said: ‘I would like to congratulate everyone at Nazarbayev University’s Graduate School of Business for this accreditation. The school is doing incredible work in creating quality MBA programmes – which create fantastic opportunities for their alumni. I look forward to working with this school very closely in the future and welcome them to the AMBA family of the top 2% of business schools globally.”
